SABRINA STERK
Sabrina has a unique language of design which she attributes to her eclectic making experience, curious mind, adventurous spirit and passion for creating. An avid reader, researcher and future-thinker, Sabrina dissects discourse on art, architecture, sociology, philosophy, physics, and biodesign, which in turn narrates her internal dialogue and informs her visions and methods of creation.
Her artistic experimentation spans across many modalities; drawing, painting, sculpture making, 3D modelling, and light visualisations. Such methods are witnessed in her practie of physical and digital space design. There is a confidence which projects from Sabrina’s work, exuded from her considered intent to embed meaning within all forms. The curious procession of an individual’s life intirgues her, and she transmogrifys her observations and learning into a cyclical making process of; research, conceptualising, creating, experiencing, then deconstructing.
Underpinning Sabrina’s holistic approach to architecture is an attempt to address ‘atmosphere’ and its implications on human psychology relative to a site’s exisiting culture and ecosystem. By using a considered approach to structure, materiality and light, she invites a sensory experience whereby the occupant is in conversation with the ecology of that specific site.
Sabrina finds solace in her practice of making, where kinetic learning and a physical relation to materials empowers her to design art and architecture that is emotive and embedded with genuine spirit and intent.
